It was February 1936 and Train No. 43 had just departed the station when Ticket Agent Walter J Jones noticed some credit union brochures lying around the ticket counter. He read them with interest and soon shared the brochures with his fellow Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad employees. The employees thought such an organization would be of value and in March of 1936, CB&Q Railroad Employees Credit Union was born.
